While there are many joys and freedoms that come with purchasing a house, the responsibility of maintaining and repairing it is often one of the biggest challenges. In fact, dealing with water damage is one of the most dreaded aspects of homeownership. Unfortunately, it’s incredibly common and usually difficult to prevent.
Bathrooms are especially prone to
water damage from leaks, poor ventilation, or backups. Since there are many causes, it can often be difficult for homeowners to determine exactly where the water damage came from. In these situations, it’s always best to hire a professional for the bathroom water damage cleanup.
While there are many restoration companies in the Ocala area, countless homeowners trust Florida Fire& Flood to get the job done right. This case study is just one example of how their team of contractors was able to help with drywall and carpet water damage. Keep reading to learn more about this project and the solutions they offered to restore the property.
In June, an Ocala homeowner noticed that there was a leak in their bathroom. However, they weren’t sure where it was coming from, so they knew they would have to call in a professional to assist them. The homeowner also did not know the exact extent of the damage because there is always a possibility of hidden water damage in cases like this.
In order to have a better grasp of the bathroom water damage, the Ocala property owner contacted Florida Fire & Flood to request assistance. As soon as the contractors received the call for an inspection, they dispatched a team to assess the materials and water damage.
When Florida Fire & Floods arrived on the scene, they started their bathroom water damage cleanup with a careful and detailed inspection. In order to see if there was hidden water damage around the bathroom, the contractors used moisture meters.
These tools allowed them to check many of the walls and carpeting in the rooms surrounding the bathroom. Based on their findings, they determined that the shower, several walls, and much of the carpeting were, in fact, wet.
From there, Florida Fire & Flood worked to create a customized solution to fit the needs of the Ocala home. The following are the three mains steps that were taken to restore the property back to its pre-loss condition:
Since the contractors understood that the risk of mold growth grows with every hour that passes, they got started right away. The professionals immediately set up their drying equipment throughout several rooms of the house in order to get the environment stabilized. The equipment included fans, air movers, dehumidifiers, and other specialized tools.
Most importantly, they used Encircle moisture mapping/drying software. The software was crucial in preventing secondary water damage. It allowed the contractors to take daily readings and monitor the progress of the drying process.
While Florida Fire & Flood was very confident in their inspection and findings, the homeowner’s insurance company requested that a third-party leak detection company be hired for the job. This team was responsible for doing their own inspection to confirm the cause of the loss. It was concluded that the shower valve was the source of the drywall and carpet water damage.
Once the insurance company reviewed the leak detection company’s findings, they finally determined the appropriate coverage amount. As soon as the funds were issued, Florida Fire & Flood was finally able to begin the repairs.
The contractors were responsible for removing and replacing the carpeting, and they also installed new drywall in areas where it was necessary. By the end, the homeowner even had a new shower installed, and they were very pleased with the end result, which included carpeting throughout the entire house.
